hologram
n 1: the intermediate photograph (or photographic record) that
contains information for reproducing a three-dimensional
image by holography [synonym: {hologram}, {holograph}]

hologram \hol"o*gram\, n.
A photographic image giving the observer a seemingly
three-dimensional view of the represented object. The
three-dimensional effect is produced by exposing a
photographic recording medium to an interference pattern
generated by a coherent beam of light (as from a laser)
reflected from the subject, interacting with a beam directly
from the source. The full three-dimensional effect requires
illumination of the image with coherent light, but less
perfect three-dimensional visual effects may also be observed
when the hologram is illuminated with white light.

A hologram represents a recording of information regarding the light that came from the original scene as scattered in a range of directions rather than from only one direction, as in a photograph This allows the scene to be viewed from a range of different angles, as if it were still present
  • How Holograms Work | HowStuffWorks
In a hologram, the two intersecting light wave fronts form a pattern of hyperboloids — three-dimensional shapes that look like hyperbolas rotated around one or more focal points
  • HOLOGRAM Definition Meaning - Merriam-Webster
A hologram is a picture of a "whole" object, showing it in three dimensions We've all seen cheap hologram images on credit cards and ID cards (where they help prevent copying)

Holography is a photographic technique that records the light scattered from an object, and then presents it in a way that appears three-dimensional Holograms pop up in movies such as "Star
  • Holography | Optics, 3D Imaging Laser Technology | Britannica
The photographic recording of the image is called a hologram, which appears to be an unrecognizable pattern of stripes and whorls but which—when illuminated by coherent light, as by a laser beam—organizes the light into a three-dimensional representation of the original object
  • What is a hologram? - Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn
Holograms are digital objects that are part of your world The holograms that HoloLens renders appear in the holographic frame directly in front of users' eyes Holograms add light to your world, which means that you see both the light from the display and the light from your surrounding world
  • What is a Hologram? – Holocenter
A holographic image can be seen by looking into an illuminated holographic print or by shining a laser through a hologram and projecting the image onto a screen
  • Holography - HyperPhysics
Holograms are true three-dimensional images This is evidenced by the fact that you can move your head while viewing the image and see it in a different perspective This includes revealing part of the image which was hidden at another viewing angle
  • 4. 8: Holography - Physics LibreTexts
The name hologram means “entire picture” (from the Greek holo, as in holistic) because the image is three-dimensional Holography is the process of producing holograms and, although they are recorded on photographic film, the process is quite different from normal photography
